Laptop not turning on: charger, battery or board?

A dark laptop is a sequence of tests, not a single part you can guess from a photo.

Check the charger LED if it has one. Try a known-good lead. Listen for a fan twitch. Note whether the machine died mid-update or after a drop.

Bring the charger

A laptop without its brick is a slower diagnosis. Barrel and USB-C power adapters are not interchangeable even when the plug looks similar.

If the machine makes a rhythmic click, stop power-cycling it and tell us you care about the files. That changes the first step.

Ask about the model, battery behaviour, previous repairs and whether the account lock is clear — not just the cosmetic grade.

If the photos matter, say that first. The path for files is not always the path for a working phone.
