Phone not charging? Work through this before you buy a port
A phone that will not charge is often a cable, lint, or a setting — and sometimes a port or board.
Try the cable in another phone. Try another cable in yours. Look into the port with a light. If you see fluff, do not dig with a pin.
When it is the port
Charge only at an angle, a connector that feels loose, or a port that no longer clicks are workshop jobs. Wireless charging working while the cable fails is a useful clue, not a diagnosis on its own.
When it is not the port
A battery that will not take a charge, a wet board, or software that has crashed during an update can look identical until the device is tested.
